Rocking some Fishbone, singing along to Everyday Sunshine in the car and happily finding the road less traveled to the Raycroft lookout.
Wilford & SnoMuse
So we had a nice day, picked up sharps, hiked a bit, talked a lot and enjoyed a Sunday drive. I'm glad I didn't make Wilford car sick on the 4x4 bit. Your good people Wilford.

We found some trinkets/jewelry left at the lookout. Interestingly on the drive up I had told Wilford that I have a favorite pair of Fishbone earrings.
left at the lookout

I didn't mention it to Wilford then, but I had a dream (a few days ago) about he and I having necklaces on.

In the dream the we both we were waring religious amulets, I had a gold cross he had an oval one (Mary?) on gold chain. I looked down and said, Oh why am I waring this, I don't where gold and haven't worn this in ages. He also looked down to find his and then I laughed and said, oh yeah I remember, I was going to melt it down; as I removed it from my neck. Then Wilford took off his and gave it to me saying here have mine too. And I took them both and linked the two chains together.

Granted these trinkets were not gold, but there is a lucky horseshoe and a fish bracelet. I said the stone in the fish looked a bit like tiger eye, at that Wilford's brain immediately started to sing, Eye of the Tiger.

Rain, what rain, everyday sunshine. That's now my internal default song.

PS: I liked that Wilford uses words like perfunctory and ephemeral to describe things.

KC arrived early yesterday afternoon, waving her Canadian flag on the top of her chic black car - I can't remember the name of her car - it rhymes with HIV, that's all I remember.

And we had great fun. It was so cool to finally meet after having gotten to know her so well in blog land these past couple of years.

There was never a pregnant pause - we yapped all day (quelle suprise, I know). That is to say, we chatted when the kids let us get a word in edge-wise. Shy, unassuming kids that they are, they totally bombarded her with questions, jokes, and didjaknows. She handled it with grace - I told her she never need worry about having kids - she can just borrow mine anytime she wants. :)

Holy Son was apprehensive at first when he heard we were expecting a visitor. Who is this KC, he wanted to know. How do you know her? How can you know her if you've never met her? I explained that I had 'known' her online for a few couple of years now. He said how do you know she's not a serial killer?

I just know, I said.

But they warmed up in two nano-seconds. In part, I think it's because we were heading off to their favourite Seattle destination store, Archie McPhee's. Archie McPhee's is a totally kitzch store that sells nothing but toxic and tacky Chinese paint plastic stuff. I go there to buy all my weird and wacky bandaids. The kids love to go there because they get to fondle voodoo dolls and plastic brains and squeezy-head toys.

We went there in order to pick KC up a Saint Joseph figurine, who is the Patron Saint of Real Estate, amongst other things - the not-so-fine print on the box yells, Sell Your House! So I got her one for her to bury in her front yard (upside down, as the lore goes) and she picked up another one to take with her to Vancouver to bring her auspicious luck in finding a new abode.

And she got the 50 cent tour on the way back, which is to say I pointed out where Bill Gates lives, where Kurt Cobain used to live and where Mt. Rainier hides on cloudy days.

This morning, we're heading off to the Pike Place, Seattle's famous fish market today. I'll post pics of KC straddling the famous brass pig later. (Our little ritual that we make all Seattle visitors endure).

The rain is ushering in this first day of fall 2008 and KC is still sleepin' in Seattle, despite our feet stomping just above her head. You'll hear from her in a bit, I'm sure.

On that note, I'm over and out to get Holy child #2 out the door. TGIM.
